Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we field most often. If yours isn’t here, message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply within an hour.

Booking & payment

How do we secure a booking?

30% deposit confirms dates and lodge availability. Balance is due 60 days before travel. We accept bank transfer (USD or EUR), card payment via Stripe, and PayPal.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancellations 60+ days before travel: full refund minus the deposit. 30–59 days: 50% refund. Inside 30 days: no refund. Travel insurance is required and covers most cancellation scenarios.

Visa & travel

Do I need a visa for Tanzania?

Most visitors do. Tanzania offers visa-on-arrival at major airports (USD 50, single entry) — bring USD cash. US passport holders pay USD 100 for a multi-entry visa. eVisa is available at visa.immigration.go.tz if you’d rather arrive sorted.

Which airport should I fly into?

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is closest to Arusha and the Northern Circuit — 45 minutes by road. Dar es Salaam (DAR) only makes sense if you’re flying onward to Zanzibar (ZNZ).

Health & safety

What vaccinations do I need?

Yellow fever certificate is required if you’re arriving from a yellow-fever endemic country. Hepatitis A & B, typhoid, and tetanus are recommended. Speak with a travel doctor 6–8 weeks before departure.

Is malaria a concern?

Malaria is present at low levels in northern Tanzania year-round, slightly higher during rains. Antimalarial prophylaxis is recommended. The lodges we use are screened and have insect-treated bedding.

On safari

What should I pack?

Neutral colors (avoid bright white, black, dark blue), layers for chilly mornings, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, binoculars, and a soft duffel (no hard suitcases — they don’t fit in safari vehicles). Detailed packing list comes with your itinerary.

How long are game-drive days?

Typical day: 6:30 am breakfast, 7:00 am out, return for late lunch around 1 pm, optional afternoon drive 4–6 pm. We adjust to your group’s pace — let us know if half-days suit you better.

Family & accessibility

Are your tours suitable for kids?

Yes. Most lodges accept ages 5+; some accept younger by arrangement. We pace family safaris with shorter drive blocks, family-suite accommodation, and guides experienced with children. Kilimanjaro climbs are 12+ for safety.

Can you accommodate accessibility needs?

Several of our lodge partners are wheelchair-accessible and we can configure vehicles for limited mobility. Tell us specifics in your enquiry and we’ll match you to the right route and accommodation.
